Getting
Ready For Your Sport
Young athletes just starting out sound have a good overall strength so
they do not place too much stress on an unconditioned
musculoskeletal system. Injury is likely to occur when doing
sport-specific
training due to too little focus on some major muscles and too much
stress on
other major muscles. Sadly because these young athletes don’t
possess
sufficient muscular strength they are more likely to drop out due to
injury
and frustration.
Young Junior Athletes Age 7-9
Make
sure you have an adult's supervision when lifting weights. These
exercises can be done with the family at home. Making
exercise apart
of your lifestyle now will give you long term health and fitness
benefits.
Junior Athletes Age 10-12
Your age group is ideal for starting a well structured resistance
exercise program.
Teen Athletes Age 13 & Up
Given
appropriate instruction and supervision your age group is capable of
using most free-weight exercises properly and safely.
